The Tim Allen classic The Santa Clause was adapted into a series for Disney+, and The Santa Clauses just wrapped its second season. According to executive producer Jason Winer, the series is likely to be picked up for a third season.
Word From a Producer
In an interview with Behind the Lens, Winer said, “While it’s never a certainty, it feels like we got a good shot,” in regards to a Season 3. The producer added that he envisions a third season continuing the show’s tradition of including references to the original franchise.
Tim Allen’s Vision for ‘The Santa Clauses’
Winer isn’t the only person with a vision for a third season of The Santa Clauses. If it returns for Season 3, Allen, who plays Santa, would like to see the series lean into the magic and lore that it explored further in Season 2. “I’m a sci-fi guy and I love stories. The fact that we haven’t really figured out Cal’s potential yet, and we’re seeing a lot of potential for [Sandra] that all of a sudden opened up,” Allen told Comicbook.com.
The Santa Clauses is streaming now on Disney+. In addition to Allen, it includes Elizabeth Mitchell from the original franchise as Mrs. Claus. The series also features Allen’s daughter, Elizabeth Allen-Dick, as one of the Claus children.
