In a post-writers’ and -actors’ strike world, the movie and television industries are slowly but surely returning to normal. For streaming platforms, that means announcing premiere dates of new seasons of shows that we haven’t seen in a while, as well as some we haven’t seen at all. Shows of genres across the spectrum will be hitting streaming services throughout the next few months, most of which were produced by seasoned professionals and feature notable talent.
Max
January has brought with it multiple Season 2 premiere date announcements from Max. Coming February 8 is Season 2 of Tokyo Vice, the drama series starring Ansel Elgort, Ken Watanabe, Rinko Kikuchi, Rachel Keller, Show Kasamatsu, and Ayumi Ito. This season, Yosuke Kubozuka and Miki Maya will join the cast. The series will air over nine weeks, with the first two episodes coming on the premiere date.
A week before Tokyo Vice returns, Season 2 of Clone High, a Max original animated series, will debut. Cast members include Will Forte and recent Emmy winner Ayo Edebiri, and Hannah Simone, Randall Park, D’Arcy Carden, Renee Elise Goldsberry, and Jameela Jamil will be among the guest stars in Season 2.
Peacock
Peacock recently announced streaming premiere dates for two new series, The Tattooist of Auschwitz and Apples Never Fall. The former is a screen adaptation of the 2017 novel of the same name by Heather Morris based on the real-life story of Holocaust survivors Lali and Gita Sokolov. The six-episode limited series will premiere on Peacock on May 2.
Apples Never Fall, the seven-episode limited series starring Annette Bening, will debut on the streaming platform on March 14. Another screen adaptation, this series is based on the Liane Moriarty novel of the same name. Moriarty’s novels Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers have also been adapted to the screen on HBO and Hulu, respectively, and Apples Never Fall is the first TV project Bening has been part of since 2005. In 2023, Bening starred in the Netflix original biopic Nyad alongside Jodie Foster.
Paramount+
Returning to Paramount+ on February 21 is The Family Stallone. The docuseries follows Oscar-nominated actor Sylvester Stallone; his wife, Jennifer Flavin Stallone; and his daughters Sophia Stallone, Sistine Stallone, and Scarlet Stallone as they navigate life on the East Coast. Before The Family Stallone is available to stream on Paramount+, the new season will air on MTV.
