NASCAR and Prime Video have signed a deal for five NASCAR Cup Series races to be streamed exclusively on Prime Video, starting in 2025. This is the first time a Cup Series event will be exclusively streamed.
Content Breakdown
With this new agreement, NBC Sports and Fox Sports have the rights to 14 races each. Fox Sports will broadcast the first 14 races, then Prime Video will host five races. Next, TNT Sports will host five races, and the season will finish with NBC Sports showing the last 14 races.
In addition to the races, Prime Video will also produce the pre-race and post-race content that race fans are familiar with. This includes expert breakdowns of the upcoming races and highlights of completed races with technical dissections of the strategy and moves made on the track. For fans who want even more action, Prime Video will also cover practice and qualifying races for multiple opening race events, save the Busch Light Clash, Daytona 500, and NASCAR All-Star Race.
Future NASCAR Programming on Prime Video
The racing giant has identified that some of its audience is moving away from traditional broadcasting and leaning into streaming services as their primary entertainment platforms. With this knowledge, the company is partnering with Prime Video to produce more original content that aligns with fans, such as the forthcoming documentary that details the Garage 56 publicity stunt. The access to premium technology that Prime Video provides can help NASCAR reach wider audiences and produce more diverse content for race fans.
