The brand-new app for film lovers is here, but only one sub-group of folks might find it worthwhile: the rabid fans of the film distribution and production company A24. Only for this bunch will the A24 app appeal, it seems, though it has potential future benefits to expand to casual viewers. For now, the overall benefits for the mega-fans (A24 knowingly satisfies quite a few), especially for those already a part of their subscription program, will likely be thrilled at the all-in-one stop that the A24 app tries to provide.
AAA24 Subscribers Will Be the First in Line for the New App
If you are already paying the monthly $5 fee for A24’s subscription benefits, A24 essentially made this app for you. Transferring all of the reasons for subscribing in the first place from the website, A24 showcases the bonus content, member discounts, and exclusive merchandise in a newly streamlined package. This bonus content, some of which non-subscribers can also view, features discussions, interviews, and information about A24’s recent hits and modern indie classics. The app does not host the A24 store yet, but the home page links to the website for quick access.
Another element users will likely find useful is the focus on the company’s film library, which is presented on the app in nearly its entirety for the first time. A few stragglers still did not make it, including those exclusive to Apple TV+ and a few deemed unnecessary for inclusion; however, users can stream over 80 films from A24, their biggest hits included, right off the app using their rental and purchase option.
Limitations of the Current Form of the A24 App
Despite its initially enticing description, some might find the A24 app to be a limited form of the potential one-stop shop that the developers seek. Other than a convenient location for renting their best films, the A24 app has little that likely anyone but dedicated viewers who go above and beyond will need. The bonus content will likely delight and enlighten fans, but anyone not looking for that will probably not need to bother with the app since most A24 films can be rented or streamed on various other platforms. The service is also not available internationally, but many of these limitations could see changes after a few months of existence.
Available to Stream on the A24 App
If you want to rent or buy new A24 films with convenience in their collection, the A24 app is the one place to do that. The app uses standard pricing for films as recent as Dicks: The Musical to stream, and the other 2023 hits like Past Lives and Talk to Me are all ready to rent as well. In the future, the A24 app might turn into a streaming service instead of just another rental host, but with the collecting and subscriber benefits, there is still some value here for the big fans.
