A new month means a new group of series to set your sights on. Peacock is serving up great scripted and unscripted content recently, which means that your appetite will be fed regardless of what genre you’re craving.
Twisted Metal
Based on the video game franchise of the same name, Twisted Metal follows a quick-witted milkman as he works to deliver a package from one post-apocalyptic settlement to another on the promise of all his wishes coming true. Along the way, our hero meets plenty of foes and a few friends that want to help him in his journey.
Take the sardonic snark of Deadpool and pair it with the action you know and love from the original video game to get an idea of what this hilarious and action-packed show is all about. You’ll see a video game-based favorite, Sweet Tooth, but otherwise, you’ll be treated to a really fun narrative that takes the vehicle combat game to soaring heights.
Anthony Mackie makes an incredible smart aleck, while Stephanie Beatriz adopts a gruffer persona that we know and love from her other works. The story is fun and fast-paced, and it’s a thrilling ride from start to finish. We don’t know if we’ll get a Season 2, but this is still a great stand-alone must-see season.
Killing It
Ever needed a little extra cash? Killing It tells the relatable story of down-on-his-luck Craig with an interesting and dangerous twist. After losing his job, home, car, and chance at becoming a successful entrepreneur, Craig Foster is in a desperate situation. After meeting Uber driver Jillian, Craig realizes he may have an opportunity to find success: python hunting.
This show is an absurd ride through physical comedy, unbelievable situations, and a group of underdogs just trying to make it. Craig is so likable and his misadventures are both self-inflicted and terribly unlucky, but you can’t help but root for him along the way.
Craig Robinson embodies silly humor so well and his comedic chemistry with Claudia O’Doherty is undeniable. If you’re looking for a show to transport you to the funnier side of life, look no further. With the second season set to premiere on August 17, now is the perfect time to binge Season 1.
The Big D
A group of people lands in beautiful Costa Rica to find love with one twist: they’re doing it alongside their ex-husbands and ex-wives. That’s right, The Big D follows six recently divorced couples who are watching their exes date for the first time post-breakup while doing the same. Will these couples reconcile and find happiness with each other or play the ultimate wingman?
Hosted by The Bachelorette success story JoJo Fletcher and Jordan Rodgers, we watch couples share a room filled with wedding day pictures, discuss their divorces in painful detail, and compete in competitions while the singles decide who gets voted out.
As expected, there is a combination of self-aware singles and very obvious villains that are trying to take everyone down with them. Whether you’re here for the drama or the potential love story that may (re)bloom, this show scratches the reality dating show itch.
Each of these shows is streaming now on Peacock.
