As summer winds down, it’s time to find a new show to watch while cuddling up under fluffy blankets with your favorite hot drink. Check out some of our favorites streaming now on Peacock.
Poker Face
In Poker Face, Charlie Cale is a human lie detector with a knack for solving crimes, on the run from scary people who have promised to kill her after exposing their illicit activities to major clients. As she lives life on the road, Charlie comes across different murders that her attention to detail allows her to solve.
Natasha Lyonne does it again with her portrayal of an incredibly likable character that keeps us laughing. We also get to see an unbelievable guest cast with the likes of Ron Perlman, Tim Meadows, Jameela Jamil, Rhea Perlman, and others. With a new crime every episode, there’s never a lull in this action-packed crime drama.
Bel-Air
What if The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was a drama? Bel-Air is the reimagining of the story of Will Smith, originally from West Philadelphia with a great life, good grades, and the prospect of a college basketball scholarship. When a brush with the law has him living with his uncle’s family, Will must battle now being the problem child of an over-achieving family.
This show is based on a short fan film of the same name. We get to watch the same characters we know and love in this much more mature version of the show. We dive deep into the very real portrayal of race relations, Black excellence, and how familial dynamics shift and evolve. Fans of the original will enjoy the sense of familiarity with the exciting edge of new dynamic stories.
Angelyne
In the 1980s, billboards began popping up around Los Angeles with images of a blonde beauty and a single word: Angelyne. Based on the work of journalist Jeff Glaser with The Hollywood Reporter writing a piece about the titular star, Angelyne tries to untangle the web of who Angelyne actually is. Not unexpectedly, Jeff is met with conflicting stories and struggles to find the truth about how this Barbie-admiring woman has come to have such a cultural impact.
Emmy Rossum is an absolute star in Angelyne. Not only does she portray the titular character, but she also serves as an executive producer. From watching Angelyne’s humble beginnings to her being interviewed for the feature, it’s a weaving tale that will leave you wondering what is real and what is just fantasy.
Chucky
Everyone’s favorite terrifying doll is back at it just in time for spooky season. Chucky takes place four years after the last movie when teenager Jake Wheeler buys the doll at a yard sale. True to form, Chucky (inhabited by the spirit of serial killer Charles Lee Ray) begins to murder members of the community, leaving Jake as a suspect.
One of the best parts of this show is that Brad Dourif reprises his role as the voice of Chucky. Expect the same dark humor, sinister goading, and terrifying undertones as previous iterations, now with updated special effects and complex storylines. This new installation of an old favorite is sure to delight both diehard fans and new Child’s Play franchise viewers.
Each of these shows is streaming now on Peacock.
