Whether you celebrate Kwanzaa every year or you’re looking to educate your children about the holiday, these three shows have episodes about the celebration that are suitable for the entire family to watch.

‘Rugrats’

Rugrats did everyone the honor of highlighting a variety of holidays, secular and non-secular, in its original run. The animated series has episodes for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, Independence Day, Passover, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, and more – including Kwanzaa (Season 8, Episode 16).

Rugrats is streaming now on Paramount+.

‘Everybody Hates Chris’

Season 3, Episode 10 of Everybody Hates Chris is the episode “Everybody Hates Kwanzaa.” To save money, the family celebrates Kwanzaa instead of Christmas, though there’s still a fair amount of Christmas included in the episode.

Everybody Hates Chris is streaming now on Prime Video, Hulu, Peacock, and Paramount+.

‘The Proud Family’

The Proud Family included a Kwanzaa episode early in its run. Season 1, Episode 11, “Seven Days of Kwanzaa,” shows the family celebrating the holiday, and it features some incredible guest stars – Samuel L. Jackson, Raven-Symoné, and Vivica A. Fox all lend their voices to the episode.

The Proud Family is streaming now on Disney+.

Bonus Title: ‘The Black Candle’

For more mature audiences, watch the documentary The Black Candle. Written and narrated by Maya Angelou, this documentary highlights the tenets of the December holiday and how they’re relevant within the Black community today.

The Black Candle is streaming now on Peacock and Freevee.
