If you’re anything like us, there’s only a finite number of Oscar-bait dramas you can watch before you just need to laugh. It’s important to break up the pace sometimes and find some lighthearted moments. That’s why we’ve found some of the best comedy movies for you to stream on Peacock right now.
The Other Guys
While The Other Guys did well at the box office, it doesn’t seem to have made it into the cultural conversation about the best comedies of the past decade, but it should be. If you weren’t sure that Marky Mark had it in him to make you laugh, think again. Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell play off of each other perfectly in this can’t-miss buddy-cop comedy that will have you repeating its lines with your friends for weeks to come.
Along Came Polly
If you haven’t seen Along Came Polly, you probably weren’t an adult in 2004. Time to play catch up! This rom-com takes the com part very seriously, serving a heavy heap of laughs. Nearly 20 years later, there are scenes in this movie that have become part of our core memory. Also, who doesn’t love seeing Jennifer Aniston and Ben Stiller on screen? It’s about time for a Ben-aissance. Until that happens, watch Along Came Polly.
Good Luck Chuck
It’s 2007 again – Dane Cook is a comedic superstar, and Jessica Alba is still Hollywood’s it-girl obsession, as well as all of America’s. For some reason, Dane Cook seems to be the butt of a lot of jokes these days, but we’re here in his defense. This is Cook in his prime with a co-star you can’t help but love. If you’re in the mood for a raunchy sex comedy with a little romance, this is the one. Good Luck Chuck is also notable because even people who don’t know anything about the movie seem to know what the phrase means. Somehow, the concept has snuck its way into our lexicon. Watch it if only for that reason.
Waiting…
Waiting… is the indie comedy gem that seems to have always flown under the radar despite boasting an incredible cast like Ryan Reynolds, Anna Faris, and Justin Long. Today, we all love Ryan Reynolds and that seems to be the one thing most of the world can agree on. However, in 2005, he was still very much in his Van Wilder era, known for raunchy sex comedies and not the semi-family-friendly household name he is today. If you’re yearning for a hilarious callback to the Reynolds of old, set in the chaotic day-to-day operations of a restaurant, Waiting… is the movie you’re looking for.
Each of these comedy movies is streaming now on Peacock.
