Summer heat getting you down? Take a break and cool off inside while watching some of our favorite Paramount+ series. Whether you’re in the mood for silly humor or a mind-blowing mystery, here are a few options for every palate.

iCarly

Based on the original 2007 series, the iCarly family is back at it. Carly has moved back to Seattle and is hosting her web series as a solo act, Spencer is a wealthy and eccentric artist, and Freddie has moved back home with his mom and stepdaughter after a couple of failed jobs and marriages.

This is everything you could ask for from a kid’s show reboot. The show has grown with the original audience, now focusing on more adult themes and problems. The goofy humor from the original show is still present, but now with a really fun edge of maturity. If you were a fan of the original, give this revival a shot to see some of your favorite characters in their new adult lives.

School Spirits

The only thing worse than dying young is having to be the one to solve your own crime. School Spirits is the story of Maddie, a high schooler that has passed into the afterlife but must investigate her disappearance. Maddie must navigate watching the living world move on while surrounded by other spirits that tell her to forget the past.

As Maddie digs into her disappearance, she begins to uncover secrets that were never meant to be known. From family and friends to mentors and boyfriends, no one is quite who they say they are in Split River, WI. Pulling on the thread of mystery brings forward more suspects than Maddie ever imagined there could be. Was Maddie’s death a terrible accident or something more sinister and close to home?

This show is a fun mystery that vividly brings back some of the most common themes of young adulthood. The realistic depiction of trying to fit in, dealing with grief, and fickle childhood relationships resonates with adults and young adults alike. Peyton List and Kristian Ventura make a dynamic duo supported by a phenomenal cast that works to fully flesh out their characters. Renewed for a second season, we can’t wait to see where this series goes next.

Never Seen Again

It’s hard to imagine that someone can disappear without a trace, but Never Seen Again shows us that these cases are much more common than we even realize. Each episode focuses on a family that recounts the disappearance of a loved one. From children to siblings to partners in cities, suburbs, and rural areas, no one is immune from this possibility.

The purpose of the show is multifaceted. These episodes may trigger a memory from a bystander or community member who can shed new light on these disappearances. It can also be a lesson in steps to protect ourselves and others from these situations. Whether a mental health crisis, disappearance by misadventure, or something more nefarious, there are actions we can take to watch out for ourselves and our loved ones.

From Executive Producer Tyler Perry (yes, that Tyler Perry), this show works to highlight the stories of those from underserved communities, those whose stories weren’t picked up by the media, or those that law enforcement wrote off. The ability to see the story through the eyes of family members provides valuable insight into the days leading up to the disappearance and how deeply impactful these disappearances are. Catch the new season premiering in August.

Each of these shows is streaming now on Paramount+.
