Stream These Old Children’s Shows on Paramount+ This September

Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson fro 'Kenan & Kel,' a children's show streaming now on Paramount+

With the school year in full swing, your schedule is likely much busier now than it was a month ago. We suggest spending any free time you have with your kids watching these old children’s shows on Paramount+

Aaahhh!!! Real Monsters

Before there was Monsters, Inc., there was a little animated show called Aaahh!!! Real Monsters. These silly monsters were just trying to learn how to scare humans, all the while dealing with very deeply human problems. Though the Real Monsters gang aren’t quite as cute as the ones who work at Monsters, Inc., they’re just as endearing. It’s the perfect show to binge with your kid who likes spooky season but isn’t quite sold on the horror aspect of this time of year.

Are You Afraid of the Dark?

For your kid who is totally into the horror aspect of spooky season, there’s Are You Afraid of the Dark?. In this anthology series, adolescents gather in the woods at night and take turns telling scary stories, their topics ranging from ghosts and demons to witches and werewolves. Fair warning: these stories will scare even your least spook-able kid, and they might even scare you. Some of the tales are genuinely frightening. But if you’re looking for a show to usher in Halloween, this is the one.

Doug

Doug is an animated show following Doug Funnie, an introverted young guy who’s just trying to make his way through life. Doug does so with the help of his friends, Patti Mayonnaise and Skeeter Valentine, and despite his bully, Roger Klotz. In addition to having ridiculous names, many of Doug’s peers come in colors that would typically indicate some sort of sickness, but that just adds to the charm. We also get a further glimpse into Doug’s world through his journal entries, making this children’s show just about perfect.

Kenan & Kel

Kenan Thompson is a true national treasure, and he’s been one since the ‘90s. Millennials will remember him from shows like All That and, of course, Kenan & Kel. After both Thompson and Kel Mitchell found success on All That, they were given their own show that followed the best friends through ample unfortunate and hilarious situations. Each episode is chock-full of prime adolescent humor and orange soda. If you’re trying to raise a comedy aficionado, show them a piece of history of one of the greatest cast members to ever grace the Saturday Night Live stage.

Each of these children’s shows is streaming now on Paramount+.
