Ranking the ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ Halloween Heist Episodes

Halloween is almost upon us, and that means it’s time to rewatch all of Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Halloween Heist episodes. Instead of watching them in order this year, watch them according to our definitive ranking of the episodes.

8. Season 8, Episodes 9/10: The Last Day

“The Last Day” is a great episode of the show and a fantastic series finale, but it’s the worst of the Halloween Heist episodes. The episode was too focused on wrapping up the show (rightfully so) to do the Heist justice. But we do appreciate that the bit was included one final time and that the squad planned to continue hosting a Heist even after disbanding.

7. Season 7, Episode 11: Valloweaster

Season 7 brought us the penultimate Halloween Heist, and it felt as if the show had run out of Heist material. The inclusion of Valentine’s Day and Easter was fun, but it took away from one of the quintessential aspects of the Heists: Halloween. The best part of this Heist was Rosa being crowned the only three-time Halloween Heister winner.

6. Season 6, Episode 16: Cinco de Mayo

Like in “Valloweaster,” we were missing the Halloween of it all in Season 6’s Halloween Heist. We’re willing to forgive it, though, because the episode brought us Terry looking like an Oscar and finally becoming a lieutenant.

5. Season 2, Episode 4: Halloween II

The second Halloween Heist was great for many reasons – it was the first continuation of one of the best bits in sitcom history, it featured a montage of Charles’s costume options, it had classic Jake-Holt conflict, and Captain Holt was named an Amazing Police Captain Slash Genius for the very first time.

4. Season 3, Episode 5: Halloween III

For the first few seasons, the Halloween Hesits only got better. As we understood the bit better and better, it became more and more fun to try and solve the Heist along with the squad. The third Halloween Heist was particularly enjoyable thanks to Amy becoming the first squad member outside of Peralta and Holt to be crowned Amazing Detective Slash Genius.

3. Season 4, Episode 5: Halloween IV

Gina Knows Best. Need we say more?

2. Season 5, Episode 4: HalloVeen

“HalloVeen” didn’t have the best Heist per se, but it did have the best ending of any of the Halloween Heist episodes with Jake proposing to Amy.

1.Season 1, Episode 6: Halloween

As much as we love that we got a Halloween Heist episode every season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, none of them can top the OG Heist episode in Season 1. Everything about it was perfect – the introduction of the idea, Holt agreeing to indulge in Peralta’s chaos, and Peralta earning the title of Amazing Detective Slash Genius.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is streaming now on Peacock.
