In 2021, Netflix announced that iOS users can now play games on its app. Over the last year, the streaming giant added dozens of new games to its collection, introduced original games, and began developing software to make its gaming offerings more personalized and available to users on all devices. In 2024, Netflix will expand its library, totaling 86 options by the end of the year.
A Wide Variety of Titles to Come
Netflix’s additional games to come in 2024 will be high in number and wide in variety. The streaming service highlighted four new titles: Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit, FashionVerse, Game Dev Tycoon, and Sonic Mania Plus, all of which vary greatly in premise. Some of its other upcoming games include Hades, Money Heist: Ultimate Choice, and Paper Trail.
Netflix Gaming Numbers So Far are Low
The response to the streamer’s gaming offerings hasn’t been overwhelming – not even 1% of subscribers have used the service. While the numbers are low, streaming executives are not discouraged. “This trajectory is not dissimilar from what we’ve seen before,” the company’s Co-CEO Greg Peters said of the gaming service use back in October, as reported by CNBC. Peters added that when adding new services in the past, Netflix had to “crawl, walk, run, but we see a tremendous amount of opportunity to build a long-term center value of entertainment.”
