With the Golden Globe nominees announced, debates about deserving, undeserving, surprising, and expected choices have been surging across the web. Less than a month remains between the announcement and the ceremony on January 7, 2024, so it’s time to catch up on the top shows you have not seen. Now that The Crown‘s final episodes have dropped on Netflix, all of the nominated shows are streaming, and here is where you can find them.
HBO Cleans Up (As Per Usual) While Showtime Surprises
HBO produces some of the best television content ever, so it is hardly a surprise when their awards nominees stand out. This year, the final seasons of Succession and Barry and the first season of one of this year’s most popular shows, The Last of Us, all make notable showings with multiple nominations. Succession wins the day with nine nominations, made up of a nod for Best Drama Series and eight actor spotlights.
Meanwhile, the long-completed second season of Yellowjackets satisfied the first half of the year for Showtime’s joining with Paramount+, but it took until the last two months of 2023 to generate a worthy follow-up. The best of these, Fellow Travelers, tells a moving fictional take on a couple’s ever-evolving romance through the political landscape from McCarthy to Reagan. Nathan Fielder’s new wholly scripted (and ridiculously discomforting) series, The Curse, follows closely behind.

Apple TV+ and Prime Video Released Engaging Miniseries and Continuations
Though much less discussed than HBO’s massive successes, these two streamers found long and short-term opportunities for greatness. Apple TV+’s Lessons in Chemistry and Prime Video’s Dead Ringers delivered thrilling character studies for select audiences, and Slow Horses and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel snuck in acting nominees. Rachel Brosnahan’s leading role as Midge could land her a third Golden Globe win out of four nominations this January, but she faces stiff competition in her category.

Peacock and Netflix Lagged in Quality (Despite Netflix’s Massive Nomination Count)
Peacock and Netflix turned in two exceptional shows this year that deserve their nominations: Poker Face and Beef collectively dominated their streaming services when they came out. Though Netflix received numerous other nominations, the remaining shows do not equal the rest on this list. A particularly shocking inclusion is the critically lambasted adaptation All the Light We Cannot See; considering the number of great shows and miniseries from this year, the Golden Globe voters could easily have replaced this one.

Hulu Rounds Out the Golden Globe Nominees By Collecting Some Top-Notch Options
Through their exclusive content and partnership with FX, Hulu has an abundant list of nominees worth checking out. The Hulu originals Only Murders in the Building and The Great turned in spirited third seasons, but The Great‘s nomination is a sad reminder of the show’s shocking cancellation. FX gave the world another Fargo season (finally) and this year’s best show, The Bear, along with OMITB, received five Golden Globe nominations. The final must-see show on the list is the only one available on two subscription-based streaming services: ABC’s Abbott Elementary is streaming on both Max and Hulu.
