4 TV Series to Stream on Prime Video This August

Summer is historically not a great time to watch television, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t good options available. Make the most out of your Prime Video subscription this August by bingeing some new and old series while you wait for the deluge of new titles to come in the fall.

The Summer I Turned Pretty

A modern coming-of-age story adapted from a book of the same name, The Summer I Turned Pretty was a breakout hit last summer. Amazon execs must’ve seen the writing on the wall as they greenlit a second season before the series had even premiered, and a third one has been ordered now, too. Featuring leads with little to no professional acting credits to their name, check out this teen drama as its second season is airing.

Minx

If you heard that Minx is back and were searching for new episodes on Max, you were looking in the wrong place. After production was nearly finished on its second season, HBO canceled the Jake Johnson and Ophelia Lovibond-led series. Thankfully STARZ picked up the show, and its aforementioned second season is currently airing. You can purchase a STARZ subscription through your Prime account to watch new episodes and catch up on anything you missed last season.

American Horror Story

We’ve seen one teaser for the upcoming 12th season of the hit anthology series American Horror Story, which is set to feature Kim Kardashian in her most notable acting role to date. With new episodes set to start airing on FX on September 19, now’s the perfect time to binge old seasons. While watching old seasons isn’t a prerequisite for watching the new, it’ll get you in the mood for more of one of Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy’s best creations.

Fleabag

As long as we’re recommending shows, we’re almost always going to include an old favorite. While the other shows on this list are still actively churning out new episodes, Fleabag is long dead. A BBC original, the second and final season aired in 2019, but it’s remained a favorite comedy for many since its exit, and it’s continued to gain new viewers thanks to its home on Prime Video. Since it somehow only has 12 episodes, it’s a quick watch that serves as a blueprint for dramedies. See why the world fell in love with Phoebe Waller-Bridge in less than six hours.

Each of these TV series is streaming now on Prime Video.
