Discovery+ isn’t the streaming service for everyone – it houses mostly reality television and educational documentaries – but for those who love what TLC, HGTV, the History Channel, and the like have to offer, it’s the perfect platform. If you’re one such individual, check out these four series this August on Discovery+.
The Curious Case of Natalia Grace
File The Curious Case of Natalia Grace under truly mind-boggling docuseries. This six-part series tells the story of an orphan – whose age and identity are still questioned – through the eyes of her former adoptive father and some of the people who witnessed her upbringing. It’s dark and bizarre and will have you questioning everything everyone says.
My Strange Addiction: Still Addicted?
My Strange Addiction had people talking back in the 2010s when it first premiered on TLC. Naturally, many of us have wondered what ever happened to those people, and TLC has delivered, like it always does, with its newest series My Strange Addiction: Still Addicted?, which revisits some of the most memorable people from the original show.
Even if you never watched My Strange Addiction, you’ll be captivated by this series. It might even motivate you to binge the original series, which has far more episodes and unique stories.
Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge
Just can’t get enough of Barbie-mania? Neither can we, which is why we’re obsessed with Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge. This HGTV game show, hosted by model Ashley Graham, follows eight different teams – comprised of all your favorite HGTV and Food Network stars – as they work to build a real-life Barbie Dreamhouse. Since we can’t actually step into Barbieland and live there, Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge is the next best thing.
Full of celebrity judges, mod finishes, and lots and lots of pink, Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge will have you ready to grab a sledgehammer and renovate your own space into something Barbie-approved. There’s even a cameo from Barbie herself (Margot Robbie).
Ugliest House in America
Essentially the opposite of Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge, Ugliest House in America features host Retta (Parks and Recreation) as she takes viewers to see, just as the title indicates, the ugliest houses around the country. The winners (or losers, depending on how you look at it) of the challenge – the owners of the ugliest house – get $150,000 to renovate their ugly home.
Retta’s sense of humor combined with the low-hanging fruit that is jokes about hideous home decor make this show an easy and funny watch.
Each of these shows is streaming now on Disocvery+.
