We’ve officially hit the brutal parts of winter. If it’s cold as can be where you live with no end in sight, warm yourself up by streaming a summery romance movie. It might not warm your body, but it will warm your heart.
‘(500) Days of Summer’
While the Summer in the title refers to the protagonist’s love interest and not the season, (500) Days of Summer takes place in Los Angeles, so it’s still beautiful weather at all times (minus the few torrential rains that plague Tom). A modern classic, this realistic romance will warm you up in all the right ways.
(500) Days of Summer is streaming now on Max.
‘La La Land’
Another bittersweet romance that takes place in L.A., La La Land is beautiful, bright, cheery, heartbreaking, and heartwarming. It’s visually stunning and literal music to the ears, and Emma Stone opposite Ryan Gosling is always a treat. The heat the characters feel in La La Land (both literally and figuratively) is in diametric opposition to what most of the United States is feeling right now.
La La Land is streaming now on Netflix.
‘Dirty Dancing’
May we all be so lucky to fall in love with a dreamy dance instructor on summer vacation with our families in New York. Dirty Dancing was an instant classic when it was released in the ‘80s, and enough time has passed now that it’s just a classic. This is definitely a summer film, but there’s never a wrong time to watch it.
Dirty Dancing is streaming now on Hulu.
‘The Notebook’
Another sweet summer romance, The Notebook is exiting modern classic territory as it turns 20 this year. That harrowing fact aside, this film is and forever will be a tearjerker, but in the best way possible.
The Notebook is streaming now on Hulu.
