Apple TV+ might not have as expansive a catalog of original TV series as its competitors, but what it is pumping out is of high quality. It’s got Emmy-winning series, critically acclaimed bodies of work, and tons of offerings that are beloved by audiences (which is the real litmus test of whether a show is worth watching, right?).
While its comedies are certainly talked about, Apple TV+ doesn’t get quite as much recognition for its drama series, despite having some excellent options. The following four are perfect to check out in the month of October.
Lessons in Chemistry
Members of the reading community were divided on the book, but it had enough of a fanbase for the story to be adapted to the screen (and remarkably quickly, we might add). The first two episodes of Lessons in Chemistry dropped on Apple TV+ in mid-October, with the remaining six to be released successively until the end of November. While there are noticeable differences between the book and the show, the acting is solid, and it’s worth your attention this month.
Swagger
Loosely based on the life of NBA star Kevin Durant, Swagger has captivated critics and audiences alike. Full of drama and heart, this series will motivate and inspire you. And you don’t even have to like basketball to enjoy it (though it does help). The show has yet to be renewed or canceled, but if it’s going to get a third season, now is the time to stream it and boost its viewership a bit.
Bad Sisters
After the death of their parents, the Garvey sisters support each other through life after death. Their life after death, however, is a little different than most. With drama, mystery, and plenty of dark humor, Bad Sisters is another critically acclaimed series from Apple TV+ that hasn’t gotten nearly the amount of attention it deserves. The show is set to return for Season 2, but now is as good a time as ever to binge its first.
See
If you prefer your drama with a little action and sci-fi, check out See. This Jason Momoa-led series ended in 2022 after three seasons, but not without plenty of audience enjoyment. While critics didn’t love the first season, they came around by the second, so be sure to give the series a fair chance before ditching it.
Each of these drama series is streaming now on Apple TV+.
