4 Crime Thrillers to Stream on Paramount+ This October

Adam Sandler in 'Uncut Gems', streaming now on Paramount+

The only things that make a thriller even better? The element of crime and watching them during spooky season. Check out these suspenseful crime thrillers streaming now on Paramount+.

Dangerous Game: The Legacy Murders

Family reunions can be bad, but this one takes the cake. Dangerous Game: The Legacy Murders brings a family together while the patriarch of the family grows sick. The family is forced into playing a murder mystery game where they’re given clues to solve a series of murders. What they don’t realize initially is that they are going to become part of the game as the murderer begins forcing the family to solve puzzles or else meet an untimely end.

The love child of a murder mystery and Saw, this movie takes the suspense of a thriller and gives it a healthy dose of gore. The cast includes some big names, like Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Jon Voight, and Will Sasso, who elevate the mostly-predictable plot. If you’re interested in a bloody thriller that focuses on creative ways to murder, this is the move for you.

Follow Her

Follow Her combines crime and psychological thrillers to create a weaving tale of what can happen with a social media obsession. Jess has been secretly filming strangers she meets for odd jobs and posting the videos online for followers and money. When she’s invited to a too-good-to-be-true job, Jess is quickly sucked into a game with someone who isn’t who he says, leaving her begging for her social media account … and her life.

This movie has been a huge hit on the festival circuit. It’s a great commentary on the rise of influencers, the debate about online anonymity, and how the promise of money can make people lose their own boundaries. For a crime thriller with a unique approach to the plot, give this movie a watch.

Uncut Gems

Greed can drive people to do dangerous things, as seen firsthand in Uncut Gems. Howard runs a jewelry store in New York City that funds his outrageous gambling addiction. In an effort to pay off his mounting debt, Howard buys an opal that he believes to be worth millions. After letting an interested buyer hold on to the gem, can Howard get the gem back, sell it, and pay off his debts before the loan shark gets to him?

With a truly stellar performance from Adam Sandler, this movie will have you on the edge of your seat and yelling at the screen. There’s so much uncertainty that even though you likely won’t root for Howard, you truly don’t know what could possibly happen to him next.

Death’s Roulette

Broaden your horizons this season with a Spanish-language crime thriller. Death’s Roulette is the story of seven people who wake up as hostages and are forced to play a deadly game. The group must choose one person to die, otherwise, they will all be murdered. As they begin to unravel the mystery that binds them together, the secrets they keep may be their ultimate undoing.

If you don’t speak Spanish, don’t let the language barrier keep you from enjoying a great movie. The subtitles give you all the dialogue needed, while the incredible acting portrays all the emotion needed for you to be invested in the story.

Each of these films is streaming now on Paramount+.
