3 HBO Alum Headed to Netflix in New Rom-Com Series

Lena Dunham of HBO's 'Girls'

Actors from three of HBO’s most successful shows have signed on with Netflix to direct, write, produce, and star in a new romantic comedy series called Too Much. Created by Lena Dunham and starring Megan Stalter and Will Sharpe, the show will follow Jessica (Stalter) as she moves from New York to London in hopes of healing from a breakup and escaping the reminders of her romantic past.

Words From the Creator

“This is a show that is very close to my heart,” Dunham said of the project. “Netflix has been so deeply supportive of the vision, which is to create a romantic comedy that makes us root for love, brings joy but also has the jagged edges of life.” Dunham, an executive producer, has teamed up with her husband, Luis Felber, to create the series, and Felber will also serve as a musical contributor.

Solid Pasts at HBO

As noted, the three biggest names attached to the project have all made a home at HBO in the past. Dunham is best known for creating and starring in the comedy-drama Girls, while Stalter’s biggest title with the network is Hacks and Sharpe’s is The White Lotus. Too Much has yet to set a release date, but the 10-episode series will begin production in the United Kingdom in 2024.
